When fourteen-year-old Ama Kalder arrives in Unity Bay for her coming-of-age ceremony, she thinks the worst fate she'll face is wearing a dress. Banned from any unladylike fun, the ever-rebellious Ama runs away and makes an impossible wager with the drunken captain of a grounded wreck if she can float his dilapidated boat out of the mud, it's hers. But, unknown to Ama, the wreck holds a deadly secret and the stakes of her bet could be the future of the Kenda resistance.
Interview With the Authors
Q So, what makes the Warpworld series so special?
A (Kristene) Josh and I come from very different backgrounds and live in contrasting environments--rainforest and desert--and it seemed only natural to write an adventure science fiction series that brought together contrasting worlds and characters. Two authors, two worlds, two heroes.
A (Joshua) A world covered in water is as alien to Seg as a rainforest is to me. Toss in big discrepancies in culture and technological development and you have a recipe for conflict.
A (Kristene) And romance!
Q Is there a reading order to the series?
A (Joshua) Yes. Warpworld is a five-book saga and should be read in chronological order.
Warpworld
Wasteland Renegades
Ghost World
Final Storm
And...to be announced!
A (Kristene) We are also adding shadow stories as we go. I'd recommend reading Unity Tested after the first book (Warpworld) and Place of Others after Ghost World.
Q Why should readers give these books a try?
A (Kristene) Because they're amazing! But, seriously, this is a series that covers a lot of ground--figuratively and literally. You'll find Game of Thrones style Machiavellian politics, a Mad Max level female hero, a Dances With Wolves kind of romance, and some Marco Polo exploration. Oh, and let's not forget a mysterious supernatural Storm that threatens to eat an entire world.
A (Joshua)Ama, our female hero, is a reader favourite. If you like kick-ass female characters, you won't be disappointed. Warpworld is as much a women's adventure series as anything else.
Q What about readers who aren't sure they want to commit to five books?
A (Joshua) That's why we've made the first book in the series free. Try it out, see if you like it. We think you will.
Warpworld Unity Tested eBook Kristene Perron
Warpworld: Unity Tested by Kristen Perron is a well-written prequel to her book, Warpworld. However, in itself, this prequel is short, contains no "gee whiz" Sci-Fi technology, and serves only to provide additional background on the later novel. The author's audience would have been better served if this short story were actually Chapter One of Warpworld. It would appear that it was written solely to provide additional background info on how the heroine of Warpworld, Amy Kalder, came to be a boat captain. That, notwithstanding, seems unnecessary from the perspective of a reader's ability to follow or understand Warpworld itself. In reading this prequel, I was hoping that the author would provide insight as to how the "class" system on Amy's world came into existence, but that was not addressed. On the positive side, Unity Tested, was easy reading and mildly entertaining.Product details

Warpworld Unity Tested eBook Kristene Perron Reviews
Nice little "prequel" to the main books and a assuagement to my anxiety over the cliffhanger ending of book two.
This is a prequel to Warpworld but I wouldn't recommend reading it first. It tells how Ama gets her ship but it also gives away spoilers about the resistance movement. After Warpworld you can enjoy it better.
Wasn't sure what to expect, based on the the description. Turned out to be one of the better short stories I've read. A few spelling and grammatical errors, but not many.
More importantly Ms Perron managed to begin, develop and end a good story in 40 pages. I've purchased the follow on book. Hopefully, it will be as well written as this.
